Discover Oishii Sushi & Teriyaki

Walking into Oishii Sushi & Teriyaki feels like dropping into a neighborhood spot that knows exactly why you came. The location at 23581 Sunnymead Ranch Pkwy STE 123, Moreno Valley, CA 92557, United States is easy to reach, and once inside, the pace slows just enough to let you enjoy the experience. I’ve eaten here multiple times over the past year, usually after work, and the consistency has been the biggest reason I keep coming back.

On my first visit, I watched the kitchen work through a steady dinner rush without cutting corners. Sushi rice was cooled properly before rolling, which matters more than people realize. According to guidance from the Japanese Culinary Academy, correct rice temperature directly affects texture and flavor balance. You can taste that attention here, especially in classic rolls like California and spicy tuna, where the rice doesn’t overpower the fish.

The menu is broad without being overwhelming. Sushi rolls share space with teriyaki plates, bento boxes, and comfort staples like tempura and gyoza. One night, I ordered chicken teriyaki while a friend went for salmon sashimi, and both plates arrived hot, fresh, and well-portioned. The teriyaki sauce leans savory instead of overly sweet, which aligns with traditional preparation methods described by culinary researchers at the University of Tokyo’s food science department.

What stands out is how the staff balances speed with care. During a busy Friday dinner, I noticed the sushi chef remaking a roll because the cut wasn’t clean enough. That kind of decision costs time but protects quality. The FDA’s food service guidelines emphasize minimizing handling time to preserve freshness, and Oishii seems to follow those practices closely. Fish tastes clean, never fishy, which is often the first red flag at lesser sushi spots.

Regulars clearly drive much of the business here. I’ve overheard customers recommending dishes across tables, and reviews online often echo the same themes: reliable quality, friendly service, and fair prices. One local review mentioned driving in weekly from the other side of Moreno Valley just for the bento boxes. That kind of loyalty doesn’t happen by accident.

If you’re new, the staff is helpful without hovering. On one visit, I asked about differences between eel sauce and teriyaki sauce, and the explanation was clear and accurate, touching on ingredients and cooking methods rather than vague descriptions. That kind of confidence usually comes from hands-on experience, not scripted training.

The dining room is simple, clean, and comfortable, making it easy to focus on the food. Music stays low, tables are spaced reasonably, and orders come out in a steady rhythm. It’s not trying to be a fine-dining sushi bar, and that honesty works in its favor. As one customer said, fresh without the fuss, which fits perfectly.

There are limitations worth noting. Parking can get tight during peak hours, and the dining area fills quickly on weekends. Still, turnover is efficient, and takeout orders are packed carefully to maintain temperature and presentation. The CDC notes that proper food packaging is key to preventing contamination, and the sealed containers here reflect that awareness.

Whether you’re stopping in for a quick lunch, browsing the menu for a family dinner, or checking reviews before choosing a new regular spot, this place delivers on what matters most: flavor, consistency, and trust. Another phrase I’ve heard more than once at nearby tables is worth the drive, and after multiple visits, I’d agree.

  • Great food. Excellent service. Great atmosphere. Sushi was delicious! Will definitely be back. Riverside roll, tuna tataki....all so delicious and great presentation. Fun music and decor. Third visit- still great! Recommend riverside roll and tuna tataki and Seattle's best roll.

  • The food was good and tasty, and the service was good. The only disappointing part was that we got our appetizers after our sushi rolls which didn't make sense. The floors are super sticky too. What saved it for me was how delicious the rolls were, though.

  • Giselle was extremely helpful and incredibly kind!! She made the experience very inviting and was such a great personality! I really hope the business owners appreciate her as much as we did!

  • Great service!! We had each server serve us which is refreshing since usually you have one person help as others stand around.. the food was fresh which is a must with sushi… down the street and the only sushi in the area.. thanks for the great food and service

  • 2 all you can eat sushi (there are tiers). Rolls were great, chilly/spicy edamame was wack (it was some type of sweet and sour sauce on it.) Atmosphere is cool, automatic gratuity and it was just 2 of us all you can eat (15% ) overall it was cool first time here, next time it best to order individual rolls. Haven’t been to a sushi spot in a while so can’t compare average pricing for all you can eat. Safe was friendly, we were there early. Check the photos.
